Moms and Crafting

Mother's Day is fast approaching!

Today I wanted to share a little story about what crafting and being a mother means to me <3 My son is approaching 5, which means that Kindergarten is fast approaching. It is exciting and scary as hell for me and I am sure that it will be for him as well. He is about a year out of diapers and maybe a year and a half to two years off of the pacifier. The time has gone by so incredibly fast. I spend my every moment worried for that little boy, hoping that he will one day become a great adult. I appreciate every smile and every hug from him. Boy! That laugh of his is contagious too! He has made my most agonizing days bright and happy without even realizing it. Such a sweet little boy will one day see how much he means to me and so for this Mother's Day 2018, I want to share a little story about me and my little man :)

A few years ago, he was barely walking around, still holding onto the couch too afraid to fall. I was deep into a hundred crochet orders and focused on what to do next in my creative ventures. I remember sitting with the television playing some cartoon in the background, my feet up on the couch and my yarn scraps piling up as I worked hard on my project. At one point, I saw him approaching me and smiling. In his little hand he carried a hand full of yarn scraps. He mumbled something and then threw them in the air like confetti. He screamed at the yarn scraps as they fell to the ground and then looked so confused as his eyes met mine again. I know that in that one moment, he felt like it should have made something like what mommy was making. That smart little mind was trying to be like me and make something, anything.

It truly warmed my heart and made me laugh very hard after. I had no idea what I must have looked like after that because I grabbed a handful and threw them in the air for him again. We laughed and played for the rest of the day. Cherish these moments parents. They grow so fast.

Happy Mother's Day to you all :D
